  5. EPC Fortran 77 is an ANSI77-compatible, 88Open BCS/OCS-compliant,
  6. high-performance compiler. It supports all the commonly used VAX and Sun
  7. extensions, including pointers and recursion. It also provides extensive error
  8. checking facilities at compile-time and run-time. At compile-time over 300
  9. informative error, warning and comment messages can be generated. Run-time
  10. error checking facilities include the ability to print the values of all the
  11. variables in use at the time of failure. EPC Fortran 77 provides a range of
  12. optimisation options to enable the production of highly efficient executable
  13. code. It supports industry-standard debuggers (such as SDB) and is fully
  14. integrated with the UNIX environment. Furthermore, it generates standard object
  15. files and uses conventional calling sequences, enabling convenient mixed
  16. language programming. These facilities make EPC Fortran 77 an ideal tool for
  17. running existing applications, developing new programs and porting from
  18. non-UNIX environments.
